Though a few bullies grow up and grow out of it, the general rule is "once a douche, always a douche." Bullies also tend to turn into cowards and whiners in the instant that someone confronts them with their behavior, or their posse of followers is no longer there to massage their egos.

Maybe there should be a parcel of land set aside for religious nuts, so they can endlessly fight each other while the rest of us get on with civilization? Texas may have louder Fascists for Jesus than most states, but it hasn't cornered the market.

Big Picture, maybe you are shy, and the hooting construction workers embarrass you, but life is too difficult to worry about this. Birds sing, construction workers ogle passing women. It may even be required by the Basic Construction Workers' Contract.
